I will be one of the first to admit that Dining Services have done a good job over the last year giving more options to student when it comes to meals, and using your “meal swipe” at other locations around campus. And not to mention the food had gotten a lot better as well, with more options based on your food preference. The real problem however is where to sit once you get your salad, sandwich, or flatbread pizza.
No matter what time you go to eat it is always packed, but the absolute worst time is dinner. Students are filtering in and out throughout the dinner period and there is no where enough seats. Students often times need to take their plates and walk over to the commuter cafeteria and eat over there due to the lack of seating in the main dining commons. With the addition of North Hall, and talk of expanding our campus more something needs to be done to fix the seating situation if more students will be on campus in the coming years. A new cafeteria would be the most versatile option because having two different halls on different parts of campus would not only give students more options, but a shorter walk on those cold winter nights.
I could not agree more. I mean, It gets seriously overwhelming in the cafeteria sometimes. I am just generally uncomfortable, and I think that when you eat is a time to be comfortable and take a few minutes out of our day to rejuvenate. It is often impossible to do this down there. I have been using the meal swipes more and more often for the simple reason of my being so cramped in the cafeteria, but that is not a valid solution. In time, if this school continues to expand its population as it seems to be doing, a new cafeteria will be a necessity.
