I entered high
school with many more people than I ended up actually graduating with.
Attending a public school where kids did not care about their future and
academics, I know how these kids just do not care. There were so many kids who either stayed back or dropped out.
Most adults who have dropped out of school will
regret it and not get where they want in life because they did not stay in
school. I know that sometimes it is not always the most logical reason to stay
in school because of family problems or other issues, but it is also important
to try your best in staying with a school district even if it means
transferring to a different one that better suits your lifestyle. If you come
from a lower income family you are 7 times more likely to drop out. High school
is only four years and at the point you are 16 where you can legally drop out
you only have 2 or 3 more years to go. College is also important but you do not
need it in all professions, but most professions will ask you for a high school
diploma. Jobs asking for high school graduates can have better pay and could be
more enjoyable. There are also alternatives if there is a reason for dropping
out other than “I do not like it” or “I am already behind so what is the point
in trying anymore?” Help is not always fun to ask for but it is better than
having a low wage job that bores you and not being able to get what you want. One point three million kids do not graduate
from high school each year.
There are so many cases of
adults getting their high school diploma years later and that is when they
realize school is important. I feel when kids learn that many adults go back to
school, it puts it in their head that it actually does come in handy and can
help out even if you do not want to go to college and know that school is not
right for you. I do know that school is not right for everyone but make that
decision after you graduate and find out what you want to do with your life. I
have had a roommate that knows that school is not for her. She had high school
and came to college to make her parents happy but knowing that all her friends
did not go to college feels that she will do better in the end. She still hates
classes but tries her best because that is what will help her in the end. School
is not for her but she is at least trying to get through it.
I don't understand whether the following sentence is arguing for staying or changing school districts: "...it is also important to try your best in staying with a school district even if it means transferring to a different one that better suits your lifestyle."
ReplyDeleteI feel sorry for your friend who is suffering through attending college merely to please her parents, and hope she is not piling up a huge student loan debt.
