Know Safety, No Injury. No Safety, Know Injury.

Driving is a risk that most of us take every day.  We may not recognize the dangers posed by vehicles, but when we look at statistics they show clear proof of the potential dangers of driving.  But since vehicles are here to stay, what actions can we take to prevent the possibility of accidents?  The two biggest things that can be done are simple.  First we must ensure that all of our roadways and intersections are as safe as we can manage them to be.  Second we must each, as individuals, agree to be attentive and cautious drivers.  These two small steps could help prevent some potentially very large issues.

In many communities there are organized groups dedicated to road safety on both a large and a small scale.  It is this type of action that can make a true difference.  People need to come together to bring attention to problem areas that may not have otherwise been noticed.  Roadways and intersections are generally built with safety as a requirement, but over time it is not uncommon for people to realize that maybe there is a possibility of a safer layout.  If we can just simply assure that there is action being taken to make travel on roads as safe as possible we will be taking positive action toward lessening the overall number of accidents.

In addition, I must recognize the possibility of drivers just being purely irresponsible on the roads.  If drivers could recognize the importance of being attentive and cautious when driving then maybe there would not be so many unnecessary accidents.  This is really something that lies inside of each individual, so change on a larger scale is admittedly hard to achieve.

Everything is always easier said than done, but the possibility of a decrease in accidents nationally is a good cause for us to invest some time into road safety.  If individual communities could come together to increase road and accident awareness, then the overall awareness will increase making national change more plausible.  After all, safety never takes a holiday.
