I just came back from Senior Investiture, which is a
ceremony to recognize the fact that the Class of 2012 are about to complete
their degrees and move on to graduate from Framingham State University (provided
they pass exams in a few weeks). We were
encouraged to wear our academic dress and were able listen to a lot of great
speeches which got us excited about impending graduation. This event has been
on my calendar since the beginning of the school year, an event that I knew
would be important but that I figured was far enough away that I wouldn’t have
to prepare until much later. Well, it seems to have snuck up on me, because this
afternoon was the first time that I truly felt like I was almost done with my
college career.
Focusing on school work and studying has made this semester
a blur, and this event not only allowed me to slow down and take in what is and
will be happening before and after graduation, but also made it possible to
realize the importance of enjoying my last few weeks here on campus. There are
so many instances where I’ve said, under the strain of writing paper after long paper, that I want to just be done
with college; but now that I’m so close to that precipice, I want to back up. I
know so many people say it, but my college years really were the best. I think
it’s important for all students, whether you’re about to graduate or you still
have a couple more years left, to really appreciate your time in college
because it really does fly by. Take every opportunity given to you, go out on a
ledge and take a risk and challenge yourself. It’ll be worth it in the long
run.
I am currently a freshman at Framingham and being almost done with my first year I feel that the next years are going to fly by just as much. To go along with your college years are the best, I believe it! Even with all the studying and homework that I have gotten used to at this point, I know that it is all worth it.
